More than likely, your products will need to have options to allow customers to select sizes, colors, etc.. Unfortunately, this is probably the most difficult area of running a web store. Adding options to products is a multi-step process and can become rather confusing if you have many.
How Attribute Sets are used
Examples:
Attribute: Tshirt Size
Option: Small
Attribute Set Name: Child Tshirt Sizes
Attribute Set Options: S, M, L, Xlarge
Once an "attribute set" is created, it is very easy to assign it to multiple products. The following instructions are presented BACKWARDS because most store owners will only need to apply an attribute set that was created during the original creation of the online store.
APPLYING AN ATTRIBUTE SET TO A PRODUCT
If the EXACT "attribute set" already exists
1. find product and select edit
2. click the "A.S" button
3. select the appropriate size
4. click save
CREATING A NEW ATTRIBUTE SET
If the set DOES NOT exist but the options do exist
For example: you already have Tshirt Sizes S,M,L,Xlarge, XXlarge created but you only want to offer S,M,L on specific products.
1. click "attribute sets" in the left column menu
2. click "insert" to create a new set
3. select the appropriate options
4. set the desired sort orders
5. configure appopriate price levels
6. name the set
7. save
CREATING A NEW ATTRIBUTE
if the OPTIONS do not exist
For example: you want to start offering different COLORS
1. select "product attributes"
2. type the name "COLOR" in the input box and click insert
ADD OPTIONS TO AN ATTRIBUTE
1. Select "product attributes"
2. go to the right side
3.. select the Attribute from the dropdown
4. type in the option name (Blue, Large, 10.5 narrow, etc)
5. click insert
6. You can now build an attribute set to make it easy to apply to products
